The W & P Glass Negative Collection
WW 2 German Bomb Damage, St Mary Bredin, Rose Lane, Canterbury. Bombed 1942. Built in 1868, it replaced a smaller medieval church on the same Rose Lane site. This Victorian church was famous for its octagonal tower and spire, which was a prominent feature in the cityscape. It was badly damaged by German bombing in June 1942 and then completely demolished in the autumn. Traces of it could still be found on the site 10 years later, they disappeared when Rose Lane was widened in 1952. See more on our website @ https://www.warandpeace.uk.com
